5 Steps to Successful Software Implementation

Whether you’re purchasing new software solutions or replacing or upgrading old legacy systems, knowing how to successfully implement a new solution can be daunting, and it can be difficult to know where to start or what to expect. Here we have outlined what you should expect when you ask Design Rule to help you choose and implement a solution for your business. These five simple steps are all you need to help put your business on the road to success:

1. Get in Touch
Many of our customers are at different stages of their purchasing decision when they contact us, but the sooner you get in touch the sooner we can start to help. Whether you know exactly which product you need or you’re looking to implement a completely new system, the first step is to give us a call and have a conversation about how we can help you. We will get to know your business, your goals, and any problems within your business that you’re looking to solve. We will then be able to scope out an implementation project to meet your objectives.

2. Explore You Options – Product Demos, Consultations and Trials
The next step depends on your challenge and where you are in your software selection process.

For solutions such as 3D EXPERIENCE and DELMIA we would usually arrange an initial on-site visit to you from one of our solution specialists to better understand your business and requirements. At this stage we’d consider whether a business value assessment (BVA) would help us to fully understand your requirements and to show you the value obtainable from our solutions.

For design applications like CATIA or 3DEXCITE visualisation the first step is usually to arrange a product demonstration, in which we’d aim to show you the full capabilities of the solution you are interest in purchasing. For some products, such as Kisters visualisation software, we can offer a free trial.

During this time, you will be able to explore your options in more detail and we can answer any questions you may have to help you decide on a product.

3. Implement the Software
Once you have all the information you need to make an informed decision about which product is right for your business we can assist you with an implementation plan. Again, the complexity of the plan will depend o the scale and solution you’ve chosen to implement, but our experienced team will be on hand to set realistic time scales and ensure the project runs smoothly, will as little disruption to your business as possible. PLM software can be complicated to integrate into your business, but our experts have over 100 years’ experience in implementing PLM solutions and would look to provide a system that is right for your existing setup, for as many different users as you need, across a range of computer devices and skill levels.

4. Consider Training and Upskilling Requirements
A new solution can mean significant impact to your existing workforce. Throughout the process we can help you understand your challenges and educate your staff, ensuring that that the impact of change is managed avoiding disruption.

5. Ask for Software Support
