Team Design Rule – Daytona Cup at the Race of Champions, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Stadium
The team consisting of Luke Austin, Kosta Kyritsis and Jamie Tanser, arrived at the stadium at 7am having never raced as a team before and with minimal experience in the karts they were to drive, Team Design Rule didn’t know what to expect from the race. The karts were 125cc 2 stroke DMAX karts maintained by Daytona Motorsport.
As proceedings got underway at the stadium with the breakfast and safety briefing, snow began to fall onto the circuit, which soon changed to rain. With the circuit being a temporary race track inside a stadium with barriers either side (similar to a street track) there was no drainage for the water to run off of the circuit so this lead to a very wet track when practice began.
